The Hoover SteamVac SpinScrub had the fourth highest score for stain removal in our comparison. There were a few other failings, however, that affected its rank, but this carpet cleaner has respectable cleaning power.

To test carpet cleaners , we studied how well each model removed stains and water from carpet. The SpinScrub took just five passes to clean dried-on grape juice. It also powered through dirt stains. The long fibers in the scrub head worked on thick and thin carpet to agitate soils and stains.

It was less impressive with water extraction, which is problematic because it can lead to mold or soggy floors. It removed just 16 ounces of water, which is below average. The Hoover Power Scrub can remove upwards of 18 ounces and the Hoover Max Extract 60 Pressure Pro can remove upwards of 21 ounces. There were only three machines that left floors wetter than this one. This was also one of the hardest machines to setup and it was difficult to tell how much water and detergent to add at first.

The SpinScrub’s tank holds more than a gallon of water and cleaning solution, so you can clean for a long time before having to refill. Also, all the accessories that come with this carpet cleaner have a home onboard the machine. Cleaning the tanks out was made easier by tiny holes in the recesses of the tanks, so water doesn’t get trapped in corners.

This large carpet cleaner weighs 20 pounds and stands 3.58 feet tall. The SpinScrub was still pretty easy to maneuver, though. In addition to its weight, the SpinScrub is the loudest carpet cleaner we compared, reaching 91 decibels while cleaning.

Roborock S6 MaxV review

For all the SteamVac SpinScrub’s power, it was missing several useful accessories. While none of the carpet cleaners in our comparison had all the features we wanted, this Hoover lacked tools for pet fur, crevice cleaning and hard floors. However, it did have an 8-foot stretch hose, an upholstery tool and cleaning solution.

The Hoover SpinScrub comes with a one-year warranty. Other machines had more coverage, but at least customer service offerings are good. The model comes with a product sticker with contact information in case it needs repairs. If the carpet cleaner malfunctions, Hoover lists service centers around the country that you can contact.
